Friends,
Let us pause for a moment and remember our fallen colleagues Hon Prof George Saitoti- the Minister for Provincial Administration and Internal Security and his indefatigable assistant Hon Orwa Ojode.
................................................................................................................... May the Good Lord Rest their souls in Eternal Peace.
Prof Saitoti and Hon Ojode are amongst our colleagues who lost their lives in a Plane crush at Ngong Forest this morning.
These were Kenyan champions truly committed to their assignments in the Security docket and in one stroke of a crush, they are no more- burnt beyond recognition.
It is indeed a sad day for Kenya as we mourn these sons of the soil. Many a days I was elated watching Hon Ojode fielding questions in Parliament, and here was a true Kenyan Patriot. He was huge in body and had a way with Parliamentarians from all parties.
Many a times his boss- Prof George Saitoti would let him handle most of the questions directed at the Ministry and he was up to it. Ojode was one MP who was always in Parliament. He would always undertake to reach out to absent colleagues from the front bench whenever his colleagues were absent, which was on many occasions.
As we mourn Prof Saitoti, Hon Orwa Ojode and their Team members who died with them in this crash, we must once again pause and look at how safe our Roads, Air and Sea are. Kenyans are dying on a daily basis on our Roads, yet, for most of these deaths, they are due to errors of omission.
As for the air and sea accidents, we cannot avoid them. They are not as many as the accidents on our Roads. But still, we must strive to ensure we have all the safety pre-cautions in place to save lives. Any one life lost in an accident is as painful as they come.
We normally wake up from our stupor when such accidents occur. Sad as they are, they are still a wake up call to all Kenyans to stand up and take personal charge. The Traffic Police must remain vigilant on our roads to help safe guard the Kenyan lives on the roads.
We at The Clean Kenya Campaign wish to convey our sincere condolences to the families, friends and relatives of the late Hon Prof George Saitoti, Hon Orwa Ojede and all their colleagues with whom they were with in the ill fated plane.
May the almighty God rest their souls in eternal peace.
