Dear Kenyans,
When you add 2 + 2 and then you get 5, your calculations don't agree with conventional math. It's in these figures that Mr. Odinga's politico-schizoid symptoms point to a diagnosis of a political delusion. In popping the champagne before the match is won. Yet, the Odinga enigma knows something about soccer. In fact, it's rumored the Premier did his soccer trade at Gor Mahia in the years before politics entered his head.
Ask English Premier League side, Chelsea, and they would discount Lionel Messy's breath-taking soccer artistry in favor of Didier Drogba's sledge hammers across opposing goal-lines. The lesson for Raila is that in the game of soccer, victory is achieved by the number of times the ball crosses the goal-line. But in politics, you win by the resources you spend to ensure more votes are cast in your column. If more people voted for Raila, he'd be President.
Kenya's politics is a game of economic class and tribal power brokers; tribal numbers; corruption; a plethora of sociocultural belief systems. Neither political philosophy nor ideology. I'd be given up to hyperbole if I refused to shed the slough of intellectual dishonesty to argue the case of Kenya's tribal politics. A putrid boil, heavy-laden with yellow pus; still unlanced. Nonetheless, those who are detached from reality wierdly embrace the delusion of a united Kenya. It'll be generations before the tattoo of tribe is weaned from our mother's nudity.
Like his father, Adonijah Odinga, Raila runs the risk of never ascending to Kenya's Presidency. Washington-based lawyer, Samuel Omwenga, and Toronto-based engineer, Maurice Oduor, won't hear of this. But I also can't refuse the knowledge that blind followers can't be straight shooters. Yet those aren't the impossible crania I'm wont to open up. So, I must delet delusion in favor of addressing individuals who still have the use of their eardrums.
In Nyanza, Raila's selfish politics have at best benefitted his Bondo clan. At worst, it's been a glaucoma dimming away our hope for a brighter tomorrow. The PM has never shared anything with his neighbors, Mwanyagetinge. In 2007 elections, Abagusii voted en masse for Raila Odinga. In the end, as Mwai Kibaki stole/won the elections, our olive branch that supported our Luo neighbors was shredded into a million pieces. It was a rein of dispair and resignation. Hundreds of Abagusii deaths were part of those 1,500 citizens killed after the 2007/8 disputed elections. Our wounds are still oozing with red blood; waves upon which Sakawa's curses are floating into Lake Victoria.
After five years, we've new elections coming up. Now it's time for our leaders to seek fresh mandate from the relatives and friends of those who lost their kin and kith. Raila has returned to Mwanyagetinge asking for their support to wrestle real impediments to his presumptive Presidency. Obstacles he created himself. If a man comes and defecates in your living room and then he goes away, do you allow him to sleep in your house the next time he comes around? No. A real Omogusii would take a stick and break his head.
Raila Odinga made it possible for 1,500 Kenyans to be killed in cold blood; and over 500,000 to become refugees in their own country. Candidly, Mr. Odinga and Mr. Kibaki, presided over the killings of more than 1,500 Kenyans; and for five years, happily presided over the suffering of over 500,000 IDPs. Now Raila wants to be President of Kenya. A commander-in-Chief whose role is to protect the citizens and their property.
If irony were a religion, Raila Odinga's Presidential bid could be its temple!
The main role of government is to protect the life, property, and uphold the Constitution. In the last five years, Raila has been Kenya's Prime Minister. A top power broker in the government. Absurdly, for Raila Odinga, 1,500 Kenyans being killed and 500,000 being displaced, as he pursued the delsuion of occupying the State House, does not seem to have touched his emotions. In short, I believe Raila Odinga has no vote in Mwanyagetinge. It's the case with all those who were affected by the tribal clashes created by Raila's reckless political ambitions.
In the last five years, the name of the Kalenjin people has been smeared with fresh mavi. Often, fingers are pointed at the common man in the Rift Valley as the cause of the killings after the 2007/8 elections. We know there was no Kalenjin running for President. However, a few Kalenjin youth were paid to kill, rape, and do unspeakable evil on their neighbors. We can't wholesomely condemn the peace-loving Ka Mama for the Odinga-Kibaki conspiracy to illegally cling to power. That isn't what the Kalenjin people stand for; not Ka Mama, my uncles.
It's true that the Raila-Kibaki conspiracy used thugs in the Rift Valley to kill 1,500 of their fellow citizens. Millions worth of property went up in smoke, and 500,000 Kenyans were accursed to refugee camps. Homeless in their own motherland. Under a government whose role is to protect their lives and their property. Yet Raila Odinga and Mwai Kibaki aren't on the train to the Hague. Ironical, isn't it?
In the 2007/8 elections, the Kalenjin people may have voted for Mr. Odinga to the last man. This time around the math doesn't seem to be Raila friendly. Only a foolish Kalenjin may vote for the second time for a PM who used their children to cause mayhem and later turned against the whole community. It's sad that the song Raila's singing is:
"Let Ruto and Kosgey go to the Hague
Holy Odinga to the State House."
If Raila were to depend on the Kikuyu vote to ascend to the Presidency, we'd be back in the Apostolic Age. In the solace of real miracles. It'd be far much easier to convert America's Ku Klux Kan to drum-beat for President Barack Obama than for the Rivers of Mt. Kenya politics to soften up for Mr. Odinga to catch fish from underneath those ice-sheets that only thaw to a Gema Presidential candidate.
The handlers of the Odinga campaign mustn't forget that the Mt. Kenya Mafia hold the mantles of power, resources, money and most of all, numerical superiority. Those are the ingredients with which Presidential politics are cooked. For the Gema group, the goal is to retain Mt. Kenya's "birthright"; the land of Canaan, made for them by Ngai. Mt. Kenya is no country for Raila Odinga.
Mr. Odinga's recent opinion polls among Were's 17 Luyha clans indicate a chronic pilgrimage going south. If I were Odinga, I wouldn't let Musalia Mudavadi go. But like his mentor, former President, Moi, Raila has no capacity to tolerate democratic presence. Miguna Miguna knows something about this. The cardinal sin the son of Moses committed was to seek democratic space in Raila's tyrannical Chieftaincy. Musalia forgot that Tinga had securely incorporated KANU's infamous Section 2A in the ODM Constitution, barring any other member from seeking Presidential elections on ODM ticket.
Like Moi's KANU, Musalia forgot that ODM ina wenyewe. The DPM was sent packing. This annoyed many of the Luyha tribes and a great majority will be wanting to teach the omsinde a lesson come next elections. It's going to be difficult for the Luo enigma to declare Luyha country an Orange state. On the same note, Kamba country is busy adding fertilizer to its nutricious "water-melon".
Raila kisha sahau mchama ago hanyele huenda akayua papo. Wahenga walisema, "mjinga akierevuka, mjasiri huwa mashakan! Maulana Odinga, kura zako hapa Pwani hatuzioni kamwe!
I don't like Kenyan politics because it's such polarized on tribal lines. It's a brand of politics fronted by leaders who value neither human life nor property. A prime Minister and a President who believe that after they cause deaths of 1,500 Kenyans, millions worth of property going up in evil smoke, and 500,000 Kenyans made refugees in their own country, the same leaders become more qualified to run for Presidency.
If you really are a true mzalendo, do not vote for Raila Odinga, Uhuru Kenyatta, Kalonzo Musyoka, or/and William Ruto?
Well, you may throw counsel to the dogs and cast your votes to either of the suspects I've mentioned. It would be a tragic play acted in the theater of the absurd. Using your vote to put more power in the hands of those who made it possible for 1,500 of our people to be killed, millions worth of property going up in smoke, and 500,000 people rendered homeless in their own homes.
Whichever the direction it takes, Mr. Raila Odinga's numbers don't add up.
Prince Kipteenengen araap Matiaangigen, son of His Majesty Matiaaningigen Tapraandich araap Chapsaigut the greatest of the Holy Kingdom of Kapchepililgeldet.
